Learn How to Charge Your Outlander PHEV

Many people have switched to increasingly popular hybrid vehicle models instead of traditional gas models. One of the most popular hybrid vehicles on the market is the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). At Charlottetown Mitsubishi, we understand the excitement of getting a new car and wanting to drive it around everywhere. However, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles must be charged adequately to get the most out of the hybrid-electric system. Keep reading to learn more about how to charge your Outlander PHEV.

Charge At a Public Quick Charge Station

As with the household charging, the vehicle must be in park with the ignition turned off before you can begin charging at a public quick-charge station. First, swipe your access card where prompted on the quick charge station. Next, place the quick charge connector into the right-hand charging port on your Outlander PHEV. This system can charge up to 80% in as little as 30 minutes. Once complete, remove the connector and replace it on the dock. Quick charging should be used in conjunction with regular at-home charging to ensure the battery is kept in optimal condition.

Charge At Home

Home charging is a convenient way to charge your Outlander PHEV when you are not using it. You can either use a professionally installed dedicated charging unit or a standalone charging cable that can be plugged into any household outlet. First, you must park your Outlander and turn off the ignition. Next, remove the charging cable from the dock and plug it into the illuminated left-hand charging port. Then, you can go about your day or night, and the system will automatically stop charging when the battery is full. The charging process can be stopped anytime by removing the charging cable from the port. Depending on which cable you use, these charging methods can fully charge your Outlander in between 3.5 and 5 hours.
