Safety Features - What's New

Many enhancements have been made for the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV regarding safety features. For one, the front body rigidity and torsional stability have been increased, improving the handling and stability of the Outlander PHEV, and adding to the safety ratings. Other added safety features drivers will appreciate include driver attention alert, a traffic sign recognition system, and other updated driver-assist technologies. MI-PILOT is also newly introduced for the Outlander PHEV, which integrates lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control to assist the driver in staying in the centre of the lane and keeping space between the cars in front and behind. Given that the 2022 Outlander PHEV was awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) 'TOP SAFETY PICK+,' the 2023 model is on track to do the same with all these enhancements in addition to the same great features from the 2022 model.

Safety Features

Working with the Blind Spot Warning System, Active Blind Spot Assist provides visual and audible alerts when a vehicle is in your blind spot, and you activate your turn signal. Active Blind Spot Assist also provides emergency braking at higher speeds if you start to change lanes and a vehicle is next to you or in your blind spot.

The Rear Automatic Emergency Braking System helps avoid collisions with rear obstacles when reversing. When something behind you is detected, this system can automatically apply the brakes to mitigate collisions with other cars, people, or objects.

The Blind Spot Warning System works with the Active Blind Spot Assist to keep you aware of your surroundings. The built-in sensors and radars detect vehicles in your blind spot and lane markings to ensure that you aren’t veering into another lane when someone else is there. The Blind Spot Warning System also gives an illuminated warning on one or both side mirrors when vehicles are next to you or in your blind spot.

This system alerts the driver to a potential collision. It automatically monitors traffic conditions and provides an audible and visual alert if the vehicle ahead comes to a sudden stop or if a pedestrian is detected. The Forward Collision Mitigation System can also slow the car to prevent or minimize a collision.

The Multi-View Camera System keeps drivers aware of everything around them. The cameras are situated at the front, rear, and sides of the vehicle, with a birds-eye view also available. This 360-degree view can give you added peace of mind in your Outlander PHEV when parking, reversing, and maneuvering.

Navigating the menus is simple, and there are many options to customize your Outlander PHEV experience precisely how you want to.

As the first trim in the lineup, the ES comes with all the necessities plus some desirable amenities that drivers and passengers will appreciate. It rides on 18-inch wheels and has stunning, bright LED headlights to give you more confidence on dark roads. The interior seats seven passengers who will be protected by the 11 airbags in the event of a collision. However, a collision is unlikely with the standard innovative safety features such as blind-spot warning, forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and a rearview camera. Other features on the ES trim include push-button start, an 8-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a quick-charging port.

The LE trim adds extra comfort and convenience to make every ride enjoyable. Enjoy the standard panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, power liftgate, power-folding exterior mirrors, heated steering wheel, and power driver’s seat. The SEL and above trims ride on 20-inch wheels and feature a memory function for the exterior mirrors and driver’s seat. An auto-dimming rearview mirror and rain-sensing windshield wipers are also included on this trim.

The GT trim adds more tech and safety features to keep you confident wherever the road takes you. Firstly, the headlights are upgraded to high-grade LEDs and have a levelling function for better visibility.
